Hospital Site and Ambulatory Pavilion
Construction for Cedar Hill Regional Medical Center in DC was effectively completed in 2024, with the building reaching its “topping out” milestone in June 2023 and signs going up in May 2024, leading to its grand opening and patient care beginning on April 15, 2025, replacing the former United Medical Center.
Key Milestones:
Groundbreaking: February 2022.
Topping Out: June 2023 (final steel beam placed).
Signs Up: May 2024.
Official Opening: April 15, 2025.
Project Details:
Location: St. Elizabeths East campus in Ward 8.
Services: A full-service hospital with adult/pediatric ERs, a trauma center, women’s health, and behavioral health.
Significance: The first new full-service hospital built in DC in over 20 years, serving residents east of the Anacostia River.
Hospital Tower And Main Building
The Phase 7A Hospital Tower and Main Building will include construction of the hospital tower and main building in order to provide a core diagnostic and treatment facility. This project is currently in the planning phase.
Design has been completed December 8, 2021.
Construction began January 28, 2023.
Hospital Garage
The Phase 7B Hospital Garage project aims to construct a multi-level parking structure parking garage located on the southeast corner of Parcel 2. This project is currently in the planning phase.
